ROONEY SCORES BRACE AGAINST LIVERPOOL! RONALDO SCORES HAT TRICK AGAINST LEVANTE! BARCELONA LOSES TO OSASUNA!

Barclay's Premier League

Wayne Rooney registered two goals in the Manchester United Liverpool game this past Saturday. The North West derby, as the match is known, was more heated than usual due to the high tensions between the two clubs as a result of the Suarez Evra racism storm. The match began with Suarez rejecting a handshake from Evra, setting the tone for the game. The first half was scoreless, but the second half began with a bang as Rooney scored two goals in the 47th and 50th minutes. Liverpool halved United's lead in the 80th minute through a strike from Luis Suarez, but could not find an equalizer. The final score was 2-1 to United who are currently 2nd in the league, just 2 points behind crosstown rivals Manchester City.

La Liga

Cristiano Ronaldo took is league goal tally to 27 in 22 games for the season after scoring a terrific hat trick against Levante. The match started like many Madrid games of late with the away team scoring a first goal, and Madrid fighting for a way back into the match. In the second half, Ronaldo converted a penalty, a header, and a magnificent shot from outside the box (which can be seen in the video below), all in the space of 12 minutes. After Ronaldo's hat trick, Levante scored a 2nd, finding themselves back in the game. Their hope did not last long, however, as Benzema scored Madrid's fourth goal from an assist by Ronaldo. The score remained 4-2, which put Madrid on 58 points, giving them their first 10 point lead at the top of La Liga in history. FC Barcelona lost to Osasuna 3-2 yesterday evening, placing them 2nd in La Liga, 10 points under Real Madrid, at 48 points.
