HEAD TO HEAD: RONALDO AND MESSI IN 2011! CHELSEA HELD TO DRAW BY FULHAM!

Ronaldo Vs. Messi- 2011

Cristiano Ronaldo, winner of 107th Copa Del Rey with Real Madrid, finished the 2010-2011 campaign with an astonishing 54 goals (53 according to some sources) in 54 matches. His arrival to Madrid has been almost unreal, with Ronaldo notching 87 goals in 79 league matches, and scoring 112 goals in 112 matches in all competitions. Ronaldo also enjoyed a successful year internationally, scoring 7 goals in 9 games. In total, Ronaldo scored 60 goals in 60 matches in 2011. This record beats that of Ronaldo's greatest rival, Lionel Messi, who scored 59 goals in 70 games this calendar year. Messi, however, managed to win five trophies with F.C. Barcelona, whereas Ronaldo only managed to win one with Real Madrid (not including individual trophies).

Lionel Messi has won everything there is to win at club level with F.C. Barcelona. This past season, Barcelona won every tournament they competed in with the exception of the Copa Del Rey.  Lionel Messi finished the 2010-2011 season with 53 goals in 55 games, and finished 2011 with 59 goals in 70 games. Although his goalscoring rate is not as high as Ronaldo's, Messi ended the calendar year with 11 more assists than his Madrid counterpart. Messi may not have won the European Golden Shoe or Pichichi trophy (both of which Ronaldo won), but he ended the year with more club trophies than Ronaldo, which puts him in a better position to win the ultimate individual award, the FIFA Ballon D'or.

BARCLAY'S PREMIER LEAGUE

Chelsea, who were coming off a two game winless streak (both draws) in the premier league, faced Fulham, who were coming off a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United, today at the Stamford Bridge. The first half was scoreless, but two minutes into the second half, Juan Mata scored to put the blues ahead. The lead would not last long though, as American Clint Dempsey equalized just 10 minutes later. Despite an exciting wave of Chelsea attacks in the final minutes, the game finished 1-1. This marks Chelsea's 3rd 1-1 draw in a row, putting them in a harder position to challenge for the title. Fulham, on the other hand, were pleased with the result as they have had the worst away scoring record in the top flight this season.
