Euro Playoff Matches
Portugal VS. Bosnia and Herzegovina
Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals as Portugal beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 6-2. Ronaldo started the scoring with a trademark free kick in the 7th minute, before Nani doubled the score with a super strike in the 24th. Bosnia would pull one back in the 42nd minute when Zvjezdan Misimovic scored a penalty, but would find themselves two behind once again after Ronaldo's second strike in the 53rd minute. Bosnia fought back, however, and put themselves back in the contest in the 66th minute when Emir Spahic scored. It would be futile though, as Portugal scored three more times through Postiga (two goals) and Velosa.
Turkey VS. Croatia
After a 3-0 loss to Croatia in the first leg, it would take a miracle similar to those in Euro 2008 for Turkey to qualify. Unfortunately for the Turks, the miracle did not come. Instead, a goalless draw ended their hopes for competing in their first international tournament since 2008.
Ireland VS. Estonia
Estonia did well to finish second in their qualifying group, but not enough to qualify for the competition. After a 4-0 first leg loss to Ireland, a 1-1 draw did nothing to salvage hopes. On the bright side, the lowly ranked Estonia had their best qualifying performance in the recent past.
International Friendlies
Germany VS. Holland
Germany showed the world that they mean business when they pounded World Cup runners up Holland 3-0 at the Imtech Arena in Germany. Thomas Muller, Miroslav Klose, and Mesut Ozil all scored goals in the 15th, 26th, and 66th minutes, respectively. Netherlands played without stars Robin Van Persie and Arjen Robben, but were thoroughly outplayed by the Germans. After finishing 3rd in the past two world cups and 2nd at last Euro, Germany has sent a message that they are ready for business, and are capable of beating even the best teams.
