TORRES TO CHELSEA and other transfers

Liverpool has accepted a £50 million bid from Chelsea for striker Fernando Torres. Torres had scored 81 goals in 142 appearances for Liverpool, but will be playing for current Premier League Champions Chelsea starting this coming Sunday, ironically, in the match between Liverpool and Chelsea. Many regard Torres as an overrated striker, and a player well overpriced. Only time can tell whether Torres can live up to expectations at Stamford Bridge.

With the money they received from Chelsea, Liverpool bought two strikers to fill the void left by Torres's late departure. Twenty two year old Andy Carroll, who has only scored 34 goals in 103 appearances for Newcastle, cost a stunning £35 million! Luis Suarez, largely infamous for his intentional handball in the quarter final of the World Cup against Ghana, scored 49 goals in 48 appearances for Ajax in the eredivisie last season, and cost Liverpool €26.5 million.

Schalke 04, club to former Real Madrid star Raul, had three purchases on the last day of the transfer market.
Iranian international Ali Karimi, who had a spell at Bayern Munich from 2005-2007, was signed until the end of the season by Schalke and will be taking the number 10. Charisteas, former Greek international was also signed, as well as Ghanaian international Anthony Annan.

  1. I think Torres can do it.. He is not overrated, he is actually really good. However, very unlucky. He's gonna kick some ass with chelsea fo shooooooo

I actually hope Liverpool does well too.. they got suarez now. It would have been nice to see Suarez play next to Torres :(

  2. Gerrard and Suarez will be an interesting combination as well. What Liverpool has to worry about now is finishing the league in a respectable position. It would be embarrassing for them to finish any lower than sixth place.

Chelsea Liverpool should be a great game, because both clubs are coming out of slumps, and both will want to show their dominance.
