Barcelona and Real Madrid won their games 3-0 and 2-0 respectively. Barcelona fielded a mostly second team against Almeria, who had been beaten by Barcelona 5-0 in the first leg. Real Madrid, who were 1-0 up on aggregate thanks to Karim Benzema's wonder goal in the first leg, had a dull start to the game. The first half's greatest chance came for Karim Benzema, who missed an open net from a few yards out. The struggling striker also missed a similar chance in the second half, with his header going over the crossbar from one yard out. It took until the 81st minute for Real Madrid to break the deadlock, when Mesut Ozil scored in a flashy fashion. Emmanuel Adebayor added the second goal in stoppage time to ensure Real Madrid's place in the final with rivals Barcelona.
Wayne Rooney broke his goal drought for Manchester United when he scored twice in yesterday's game against Aston Villa. Rooney had 34 goals in all competitions last season, and will try to replicate that form once again.
Liverpool heavily dominated today's fixture against Stoke, finishing the game 2-0. Meireles scored the first goal in the 47th minute, and new signing Luis Suarez scored on his debut for Liverpool in the 79th minute.
